The scene: A room. Two men sit across a table from each other. One is a representative of the GRID. The other is a member of a funding council.

GRID: Condor Grid eScience jihad. Accessgrid! Lustre! 3d animation! Inter-disciplinary research! derka derka middleware layer!
Research council: Grid! Grid! Grid!

(MONEY falls from the sky. Its origins are never adequately explained)

Sadly, not THE END.

Damnit, you're right. I have SHAMELESSLY stolen your humour and integrated it into mine, with the result that your comment now appears superfluous. Marvel at my ingenuity.

Shamelessness!

Disclaimer: I'm staff at an "e-Research Centre" which trumpets multi-disciplinary research :p

It's always a question of finding the right key to press to get funding. With the aging President of my region, telemedicine was always a sure-shot seller: you only had to make it look like your project had anything to do with telemedicine to get money.

Then Grid computing appeared and what did we have? Projects about using Grid computing for telemedicine!

And if the person holding the purse-strings is a football fan, make it gridiron computing.

(That is, "walls with legs" football, not "whiny prima donnas with Nicky Clarke contracts" football.)

Dude, I used to maintain the Debian AccessGrid packages. This may be funniest and most accurate thing I have seen for a while. It's a shame so few will get it.

He's in Cambridge. A fair whack of the people working on eScience projects read mjg. :)
