I've forgotten to resign. This actually makes life quite awkward.

And I was woken up by telemarketers, and was too asleep to realise that I ought to be screaming at them about TPS. Bugger. That'll probably have been my one opportunity for pleasure today, and it's gone already. Now I get to go back to trying to figure out why I can't make an input plugin that works in an application that provides no debugging output, and having to deal with libtool in the process.

When I say fuck libtool, I really, truly, desperately mean it. Fuck libtool. Fuck it and its preconceptions about library location. Fuck it and its paranoia about doing anything because of compatibility with platforms that this code will never run on. Fuck it and its wittering complaints about not being able to find libraries because it's not doing the OBVIOUS THING of LOOKING IN THE LIBRARY DIRECTORY. Fuck it and its attempts to link an ARM application against x86 libraries.

When are you planning on stopping work? When does the PhD start? (Or are you resigning for some other reason?)

libtool really badly needs a --no-I-am-not-on-a-dope-crazed-platform-thank-you option. Although some days I wouldn't be sure whether I could supply it or not.

A BIG FUCK YOU TO LIBTOOL AND THE PROGRAMMERS WHO USE THAT SHIT.
Fucking multiplatform building is a cliche, it's not worth trying to make a single package work in every fucking unix system. Why is that people don't just provide a SEPARATE fucking package for each of the major linux distributions+solaris? How hard is that? Why is that your fucking package needs to build in shitix and motherfuckux, that nobody but half a dozen wankers use?
It's not enough having to deal with the complexity of makefile, you needed libtool a hideous shell script that works without hacking only 20% of times, defeating it's own purpose
